BASE stands for Believing, Achieving, Socialising and Experiencing. BASE is our brand name for all the exciting activities and opportunities that we offer for young people aged 13 - 25 years. BASE is aimed at all young people with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders and complex needs.
Leading Lives is developing and delivering activities aimed at young people during the daytime, evening, weekends and for holiday experiences. When you see our BASE logo, it means the activity is for a younger person. We want young people to have fun, make friends, learn new skills and try new experiences. Across Suffolk Each area is delivering their own programme of activities including: gaming (PS4, Xbox), drama, art, photograph/film, music (DJ'ing), dance, using social media, sports, sensory and much more.
We want young people to tell us what you want and choose the activities you like. Leading Lives can provide a personal assistant so you can access your community during the daytime, evening and weekends. You might want to go to a concert, theatre, cinema, night club or a trip to London Comic Con. Tell us what you want to do, and we will support you to achieve it.
BASE includes the opportunity to learn new skills and be more independent. We are planning and delivering workshops and short courses about: personal safety (in the community and using the internet safely), having relationships (sexual health) and meal preparation.
We have 4 young people clubs being delivered in the evenings funded through Activities Unlimited:
- Sudbury - Night Hub
- Bury St Edmunds - Fun United
- Ipswich - All Stars (this name is due to change)
- Lowestoft - STOMP
