Alex had his first taster of getting behind the wheel and said "I am quite adventurous and wanted to learn to drive"
Alex's support worker made some queries and took him to Anglia Indoor Karting at Sproughton.
Alex said "the staff were very nice and let me sit in a Kart and they showed me how to work the accelerator and brake pedals. I had to watch a video about driving go-karts on the track and learnt the rules about being safe and what I had to do when the marshal waved different flags. Next i had to put on my racing suit, helmet and gloves - I looked like a real racing driver. The instructor reminded me about the rules and then I was off. I started slowly at first so I didn't scare my support worker who was watching from behind the barriers but I soon got quite fast and even waved to her as I zoomed past".
Support worker told us that when the marshal waved the chequered flag it meant that Alex's time had finished and he drove his kart into the parking bay.
Alex went on to say "my support worker was very impressed with my driving. I have been again and this time the instructor told me I was an amazing driver and I had to stand on the podium where he presented me with a drivers medal".
"My support worker still won't let me drive her car though!"
Keep up the good work and heading towards your dreams Alex!
